Review: Cenote Green Orange Liqueur

By Christopher Null | October 5, 2023 |

If the name of this product alone doesn’t confuse you into oblivion, the description of it just might. Apologies in advance. Review: Tanteo Blanco and Pepper-Infused Tequilas (2020)

By Christopher Null | March 25, 2020 |

A lot has changed since we first covered Tanteo Tequila back in 2009. Back then, the company was focused exclusively on flavored tequilas, with offerings ranging from tropical fruit to chocolate. Recently, Tanteo dropped two of its three flavors and doubled down on peppers. In addition to its jalapeno flavored tequila, it rolled out chipotle…

Review: Playa Real Tequila – Silver, Mandarin, and Pineapple

By Christopher Null | October 15, 2018 |

Austin-based importer Davis Spirits brings Playa Real into our fair nation. Made at the busy Distillery La Cofradia, where Lowlands agave is the norm, Playa Real is distinctive for two reasons. First, it is triple distilled instead of the usual double distilled — a process that results in a cleaner, more neutral finished product but…
