Review: Cantrip Elixir Hemp Spirit

Cantrip makes a variety of THC-infused sodas, but Elixir is its only hemp “spirit,” a milky-cloudy blueish serum that contains 166mg of THC per 750ml bottle, or about 10mg per serving.

What Elixir tastes like is hard to describe. Imagine a melted and watered-down mix of bubble gum and cotton candy, cut through with a vaguely earthy underbelly courtesy of the hemp, and you’re getting close. The only recognizable ingredients in the list are spirulina (“for flavor”) and monkfruit (as a sweetener), and this sure doesn’t taste like a shot of “green juice.” It’s moderately sweet and indistinctly fruity, vaguely berry-like but with no clear indication as to which one.

All told it’s pretty harmless. As a mixer, it’s mild enough to pair well with sparkling water or soda, or I could see it subbing in for rum in a tropical cocktail. Mind you warn your guests about the significant cannabis dose they’re getting in lieu of alcohol.
