This is our third round with Paso Robles-born Harvey & Harriet from Booker Wines — and supposedly it’s a stellar vintage — so we’re excited to dig in.

As usual, this is a cabernet sauvignon-heavy Bordeaux style blend, and it’s quite a dense one. Initial flavors of cassis and tart cherry find a counterpart in ample chocolate, but this is all kept in check by a gently green herbal character, evoking rosemary at first, but almost grassy at times. Time in glass (one hour-plus) helps the more fruit-forward characteristics perk up, as the wine finally leans more toward strawberry and some tangerine qualities. It’s a long time coming, so prepare for a long sit with the wine — or at the very least a decanting.

Great value.
