Review: 2020 Livio Felluga Illivio Friuli Colli Orientali DOC

An Italian, oak-aged blend of Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay, and Picolit, this is initially a creamy and nutty wine that evolves quickly in the glass, sweeping its sweeter, vanilla-scented notes away as it works its way into a sharper, more acidic quality. As it develops, watch for notes of cantaloupe to move into a gently balsamic character, and from there revealing a final layer of anise. Complex and well-rounded, the wine finishes with an exotic character that recalls a unique blend of tamarind and fresh florals. One of the best white wines I’ve had this season.
