Review: Yuengling Hershey’s Chocolate Porter

There’s Hershey’s chocolate in Yuengling’s Hershey’s Chocolate Porter  — available for the fourth year in a row — but there surely isn’t much of it. This beer, while suitably festive, doesn’t cut a much different picture vs. a traditional porter, though a touch of added sweetness — more cola than chocolate, in this writer’s opinion — helps to temper the maltiness of a typical porter and brighten up the back end. The finish offers notes of cherry and some baking spice, providing a holiday vibe, with the iconic Hershey’s syrupiness showing strongest on the finish. Fair enough, but add Kisses on the side to give the chocolate a boost.
