Review: 2021 Etude Pinot Noir Carneros

Review: 2021 Etude Pinot Noir Carneros

Etude has earned its reputation for making excellent pinot noirs and we’ve enjoyed them in the past, so it is a pleasure to pour the newly released 2021 vintage of their Carneros Pinot Noir.

This wine really shows the brand’s character. On the nose and palate arrive big, rounded notes of black cherry, sour cherry, and pomegranate along with some gentle pepper and light floral notes. There’s excellent structure here with high acidity and gentle tannins providing a silky mouthfeel, and the finish is long and lingering. This is a beautiful example of pinot noir from the Carneros region, with all elements coming together into a harmonious whole. It will go well with a wide range of foods, from grilled fish to bold pastas to pungent cheeses, but it can also be enjoyed all by itself. I’m a fan.
