Review: 2021 Sebastiani Pinot Grigio and Rose

Review: 2021 Sebastiani Pinot Grigio and Rose

I always associate Sebastiani with hearty reds, but here’s proof that you can find summery whites in its lineup too. Digging in to two fresher, paler offerings:

2021 Sebastiani Pinot Grigio Russian River Valley – A classic blend of peach and apple notes, melded with aromatic florals and a bracing minerality. Pinot grigio always brings a little something for everyone to the party, and this trip through both the fields and orchards culminates with crisp, citrusy acidity and just the right amount of vanilla dribbled into the glass. Perfect for the apparently endless summer of 2023. A- / $28

2021 Sebastiani Rose Carneros – A blend of 85% Pinot Noir and 15% Muscat Canelli. Provence style all the way, this fruity-floral rose isn’t the most complex wine I’ve encountered, but the combination of strawberries, lavender, and lilac evokes the height of summertime and elegant garden parties. On the pricey side for a relatively straightforward porch-pounder, but not egregiously so. B+ / $28
