Review: 2020 Zuccardi Serie A Malbec

Highlighting various microclimates and soils throughout Argentina’s Uco Valley region, Zuccardi’s Serie A serves as an entry point to its extensive line of malbecs. Dense and lively, this 100% malbec wastes no time presenting itself in classic Mendoza malbec fashion, offering dark fruit, chocolate, and baking spice mixed with a touch of pepper on initial passes. With a bit of time, notes of violet and oak cut through on a rather lengthy finish that is fruit-forward and light on tannins and acidity. It’s incredibly approachable as a beginner malbec, but fans of the varietal will find plenty to love. It’s easy to drink on its own but when paired with a rich and savory meal, it shows just how good malbec can get.
