Review: Lonerider Nutcracker Pecan Flavored Whiskey
Review: Lonerider Nutcracker Pecan Flavored Whiskey
It’s two words — “Nut Cracker” — on the label, but “Nutcracker” officially. Whatever the case, this is a pecan flavored rye whiskey from Durham, NC-based Lonerider Spirits, and with that you know everything about it that I know.
One sniff and whoosh! it’s a sugar bomb that hits the nostrils. Overbearingly sweet and laden with notes of well-toasted sugared pecans, notes of toasted marshmallow endure even as the nuttiness fades a bit. The palate is of course ultra-sweet, candied pecan touched with a slight orange peel character. A chemical note is evident but modest, perhaps a side-effect of the whiskey’s enduring booziness, which attempts to (but largely fails to) temper some of the sweetness.
Simply too much for me.
80 proof.
