Review: 2019 Sosie Red Blend Rossi Ranch

Review: 2019 Sosie Red Blend Rossi Ranch

The new Rossi Ranch Red Blend from our friends at Sonoma’s Sosie is here. This year the Rhone-style wine is a blend of 51% grenache, 34% mouvèdre, and 15% syrah, all sourced from the organic Rossi Ranch vineyard. Let’s dig in.

Hugely fruity, almost pruny at times, this is a bold expression from Sosie, loaded with notes of currants, overripe plums, and chocolate sauce. It takes some work to find your way through the wine, which has no tannin to speak of and which comes across as rather sweet. Notes of vanilla and almonds seem a bit out of place here — the wine was aged in neutral oak — but they ultimately work well enough with the mountain of sweet fruit that kicks things off.
