Review: Dogfish Head Hazy-O! Hazy IPA
The “O!” in Dogfish Head’s new hazy IPA, Hazy-O!, stands for oats, of which four types are used in the brewing of this beer: malted, rolled, naked, and oat milk, the lattermost of which may raise an eyebrow or two. Big and rounded on the palate, it’s got an ample tropical note up front that gives way, slowly, to a surprisingly bitter punch with an earthy quality that lingers on the finish. The oat milk, so they say, is responsible for the silky body, and Dogfish Head says it took a year to perfect the usage of oat milk in this offering. It certainly seems to work, providing a gentle sweetness that tempers some of the more brooding, hoppy notes while helping to round out the body. I’d have another.
