Review: Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Cocktail Bitters
Hey, Jack Daniel’s finally has its own line of bitters: Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Cocktail Bitters, designed to “work hand in hand with Old No. 7.” Let’s give them a try.
The nose is heavy on cloves and nutmeg, the intensity coming across a little like a funky jerk spice. Some dark cocoa powder notes emerge with a little time, too, along with a curious hint of curry powder. On the palate, the bitters are even more of a powerhouse, pouring on notes of barrel char, ginger, and a hefty, dark — almost blackened — chocolate note. No shrinking violet, it definitely leaves its mark when used in a cocktail — though fans of the otherwise demure JD may want to use a light hand with the stuff.
