Review: Plume & Petal Lemon Drift Vodka
Bacardi’s newest brand is a line of flavored vodkas, a “collection of premium low-ABV vodkas infused with natural artisanal flavors, created to address the real-life demands of modern women.”
I’m no modern woman, but I get the spa inspiration behind Plume & Petal, which includes a cucumber version, one made with peaches, and the lemon-infused bottling reviewed here. A 1.5-ounce shot has a mere 83 calories. Let’s give it a whirl and see if I get in touch with my inner femininity.
Plume & Petal Lemon Drift is (as promised) aggressively lemony and quite sweet — though note it contains no artificial sweeteners — making for a spirit that’s extremely tart, with the brisk sourness of Lemonheads on the tip of the tongue. A slight lime note gives the back end a surprising little twist, though there’s plenty of sugar throughout to remind you that you’re sipping on something that’s been expressly built for summery cocktails. If you’re in the market for low-alcohol cosmos and lemon drops, you’ve got the perfect base spirit. Anything more complex or nuanced will probably require venturing further afield.
40 proof.
