Recipe: Hemingway Daiquiri
Forget your slushy-style daiquiris and drink this delightful concoction the way Papa intended, with grapefruit juice, maraschino liqueur, and no sugar.
Most recipes call for more lime juice than grapefruit juice, but I rather like this cocktail with the proportions inverted (as in the recipe below). That said, you can play with those quantities to your heart’s content — just make sure you end up with about 1 1/4 ounces of citrus in total.
Punch offers a neat trick that can boost the citrus component: including a piece of grapefruit peel in the shaker.
Hemingway Daiquri
2 oz white/light rum (I used Havana Club 3 Years Old)
3/4 oz grapefruit juice
1/2 oz lime juice
1/2 oz maraschino liqueur
Shake all ingredients over ice and strain into a coupe. Garnish with a lime wheel.
