Review: Blue Moon Iced Coffee Blonde
Coffee infused beers are popping up everywhere. It started with stouts, but now coffee is being used in other styles as well. Blue Moon takes the next step in this progression with the first nationally available blonde coffee beer. It is a wheat beer made with fair trade decaffeinated coffee beans and a touch of honey. This beer currently appears in Blue Moon “Share Packs” along with Blue Moon Belgian White and Blue Moon Mango Wheat (reviewed here), but it will become available in six-packs starting in November. Let’s give it a try.
Blue Moon Iced Coffee Blonde pours into the glass a hazy, golden color with a medium head that quickly dissipates. The nose offers a nice dose of tempting coffee coupled with the undeniable, yeasty aroma of wheat. A taste brings coffee notes first, but they aren’t overpowering. This is still a relatively light beer, built upon Blue Moon’s successful Belgian White, and the coffee notes offer a nice, slightly sweet, and malty counterpoint to the wheat character. The finish is medium in length as the beer slowly fades before another sip.
I tend to start my day with coffee and end it with beer, but this unusual blend works quite well. If you’re a fan of both coffee and beer, you should give it a try.

Jlyk Schlafly has a seasonal Blonde Bean Ale for about 5 years now, Moon isn’t the first
Saw the Blue Moon Iced Coffee in the store and thought I’d give it a go. Very pleased with the flavor and taste. Will definitely drink this one again. Two thumbs up
The review didn’t say that Blue Moon had the first blonde bean ale. It said that Blue Moon had the first “nationally available blonde bean ale.” I would love to try Schlafly’s version, but it doesn’t reach Massachusetts.
Glad you like it Jeff! I was very pleasantly surprised when I tried it. Cheers!
The coffee blonde was an amazing tasting beer!!! I really enjoyed it… I just for my self really wished it was made with caffeine instead of decaf. But like I said the taste was deffently amazing!
This is absolutely brilliant. I love beer and I love white blonde coffee. Mixing the two, who would have thunk? I’m heading out the door now to see if I can find some Blue Moon Iced Coffee Blonde at the grocery.
