Review: 2015 Primus The Blend Apalta
Primus is an ever-changing blend, and for the 2015 vintage it consists of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 24% Carménère, 8% Petit Verdot, and 3% Cabernet Franc. Primus 2015 has an incredible depth, loaded with chocolate and cassis. There’s an unusual botanical and spicy element here, a curious edge that hints at a bounty of elements ranging from honeysuckle to wet earth, dried flowers to toasted coconut. Again and again I went back to Primus to pick out new flavors and experiences, and again and again I found myself surprised. This is a rare wine where a single bottle at a single moment probably isn’t enough to tell its whole story. An amazing value at this price.
