Review: 2016 Seven Hills Merlot Walla Walla Valley

Review: 2016 Seven Hills Merlot Walla Walla Valley

Here’s a fresh little merlot from Washington’s Seven Hills, tucked away in the Walla Walla region. Initially on the tannic side for merlot, a little air helps things open up to let some of the fruit and spice enter the experience. Notes of bittersweet chocolate, red flowers, and some berry fruit cut through the sometimes gritty experience, but it remains on the tough side well into the bold and somewhat woody finish. Give this one at least three years in the cellar before drinking.
