Review: Colina Colada Ron con Horchata

Review: Colina Colada Ron con Horchata

Colina Colada is the rum world’s answer to Irish Cream liqueur, a horchata-inspired liqueur that “blends Caribbean rum with fresh dairy cream, cinnamon, lemon, and other unique, natural spices.” It’s made using Don Colina’s recipe, though the product does not include the Dos Ron brand on the label; also, the product is actually bottled in Florida.

If you like horchata, you’ll love Colina Colada. The nose is full of cinnamon and gingersnap cookie notes, while the sweet and creamy palate evokes banana cream pie. Touched with lemon here and there, it builds to a boldly cinnamon-flavored body, reminiscent of rice pudding. As expected, the finish remains sweet and creamy, without becoming cloying, hanging on to the cinnamon for the duration — just as it should.

29 proof.
