Welcome to Drinkhacker 2018
It’s our sincere hope that you’ve already noticed: Over the last few weeks we’ve been radically revamping and redesigning Drinkhacker, a move that was probably long overdue.
Foremost, you’ll note that the monolithic design — big pictures followed by long stretches of text, rinse and repeat — is now gone, replaced by a more streamlined design that gets more content on the page. A major goal of the new design was to reduce loading times — a problem caused by having so much material on each page — but that does mean you’ll need to click through to each post you want to read in full. We hope you agree that the improvement in load times and site availability (as it would often error out due to bandwidth overload) is worth it. We also think it looks better and works better, giving you easier access to new content, top rated products, and our most popular pages on the site.
Looking for the big list of product categories? You’ll find it (most of it, anyway), in the new menu accessed via the left-hand drop-down icon. Not that we expect you’ll need it, because we’ve massively improved the site’s search function, making it easier than ever to find what you’re looking for.
In case you missed it, Drinkhacker recently joined Instagram, and our social media editor Drew Beard posts missives there daily. It’s a great place to see what we’re working on, where we’re traveling to, and what we’re drinking; the content isn’t always the same as the main site, so it’s worth a look.
We’re also launching a weekly newsletter, so if you prefer to get your drinking news and reviews in your inbox, now you have that opportunity. We’re still working out the bugs, so if you choose to subscribe, please let us know what works and what doesn’t.
Oh, and we updated our Privacy Policy for GDPR. We’re not going to spam you with an email about it, because we don’t really keep your email address on file anyway.
What do you like about the new design? What isn’t working for you? We’re always reachable at [email protected] — or you can leave a comment on this post, drop us a line on Facebook, or tweet at us on Twitter. Cheers!
