Review: Kendall-Jackson 2010 Chardonnay and 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon

Review: Kendall-Jackson 2010 Chardonnay and 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon

Even the wine world is going mobile. Kendall-Jackson has launched a new mobile app called K-J Recommends, with an eye toward pairing its wines with certain events in your life (romance, family, etc.). It’s a fanciful app… and two of the 11 wines recommended are reviewed below.

2010 Kendall-Jackson Chardonnay Vintner’s Reserve California – Apples and oak here, a big, classic, California Chardonnay. Not a lot of nuance here, but Chard fans will enjoy it. A touch of acid on the finish brings some needed balance. B / $16

2009 Kendall-Jackson Cabernet Sauvignon Grand Reserve Sonoma County – Surprisingly good for a $20 wine, full of soft cherry character, some brewed tea, and touches of pepper and violets. Great balance and easy drinking, with well-softened tannins. Not overly complicated, but far from “cheap.” Amazing value. A- / $20
