Review: Vermeer Dutch Chocolate Cream Liqueur
Chocolate-based liqueurs are hardly a new phenomenon, but few spirits we know of have works of art reproduced on their labels. In this case, it’s Johannes Vermeer’s “Girl with the Pearl Earring” gazing out at you while you get your chocolate fix.
Now we don’t know what kind of a drinker Vermeer really was — though we doubt he was sipping chocolate martinis — but we’re sure he would have enjoyed his namesake tipple.
This 34-proof liqueur is fairly straightforward, a creamy version of, say, Godiva’s versatile chocolate spirit. It’s rather heavy on the cream, which gives it a bit of a bubble gum character and it’s oversweetened a bit — for something claiming to be made of “Dutch chocolate,” I’d hoped for something a little darker, less milky.
Still, it makes for a solid additive to coffee or as the aforementioned chocolate martini component if you’re looking for something silky rather than sharp.
34 proof.

Sounds interesting, will see if I can come up with a chocolate martini using this as the source of the chocolate.
This is quite frankly the most obnoxiously disgusting drink I’ve ever tasted. It has an odour that is quite odd too and when it separates it looks like vomit. I’d rather drink bleach.
I truly hope you do not opt fot the bleach. But, if we are ever invited to the same party, ask the host to dis-invite me as I would find it impossible to be in your company. On second thought, consider the bleach option. It might cure your sh***y outlook on life.
One word: yuck!
I’ve met Godiva. I’ve sipped Godiva. You are no Godiva. Creamy is good, but this borders on gravy. Sweet fights it out with an odd, bitter chemical flavor reminiscent of hospital disinfectant. Mixed with strong hot cocoa, it’s almost drinkable, but it ruins an otherwise decent cup of coffee. Pay the extra 15 dollars, and buy the Godiva.
I love chocolate cream but not sure I would like it in a liqueur form.
I drank it straight and liked it enough to purchase two additional miniatures.
Cheers!
What is the expiration time for a bottle of Vermeer Dutch Chocolate Cream never opened. Thanks!
