Review: 2008 Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau

Review: 2008 Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau

On Thursday, November 20, the new 2008 vintage of Beaujolais Nouveau goes on sale, and every wine lover should make a point to try at least one bottle before ’08 is history.

I got an early peek at Georges Duboeuf’s Nouveau and found it one of the most charming Nouveaus in recent memory.

The Gamay’s traditional, lightly bitter and strongly fruity character is here, with all sorts of green herbs on the palate. A kind of sage and dried oregano tone laces its way through the very dark crimson vino, and the finish is moderately quick and dry, with notes of cassis.

As always, it’s nothing complex (sometimes that’s a good thing, after all), and at $12 a bottle, you can’t really go wrong. As always, Nouveau stands best as a wonderful way to welcome the first wines from the 2008 vintage… even though it will be years before most of the hit the market.

I think the wine is awful. Tastes vinegary, bitter like gall & makes me cringe when I drink it.

i think the only thing this wine is good for is cooking

I agree with the other responses. I drank half a glass and ate to take 3 tums because of the heartburn. That being said, it is great marinade for a steak and makes a great reduction with onions.

I couldn’t agree more with these comments. Now I know why it was on sale at $3.24 per bottle – fortunately, I only bought one!

I’m pretty surprised by the negative comments. Wish I had another bottle around to try it again.

    B. Nouveau is true garbage and should not be sold. Spend a few more dollars and get a terrific single property B. Importers of B Noveau should be shot on sight, YECCCHHH!

Heartburn consists in a burning sensation that starts in the lower part of the chest and can extend itself up to the throat.

It is usually produced when gastric acids are flowing up through the sphincter that separates the stomach from the esophagus because this one has not closed itself completely or maybe because there is a pressure (tight clothes, pregnancy, obesity) in the stomach that makes the acid to go up towards the esophagus.

One of the most popular Heartburn Home Remedies is to drink a quarter of a glass of water with two coffee spoons of apple vinegar 30 minutes after eating.

Mixing two spoons with ginger root and half a cup of water. Mix and boil for 10 minutes. Drink before going to bed.

Prepare a juice made of 4 carrots and 2 lettuce leaves. Put the ingredients inside a shaker with a cup of water for five minutes. Strain the resultant liquid, and drink in the morning.

Eat a cup of natural light yoghurt on an empty stomach, everyday
