Review: Ciroc Vodka

Share

Diddy knows what’s up.

Ciroc (or more properly Cîroc) is a high-end vodka, one of the earlier grape-based vodkas, and now that Puff Daddy is behind it as a promoter, it’s probably sky’s-the-limit for the brand.

This French vodka is not just made from grapes but from “snap frost” grapes, which (I guess) means the grapes are harvested immediately after the first frost. (Search for “snap frost grapes” online and all you’ll come up with are stories about Ciroc vodka.) Distilled five times and bottled at 80 proof, it goes into a fancy bottle and then on to your stomach.

This is indeed a pretty good vodka, about on par with other grape-based vodkas though somewhat more medicinal than most. There’s a strong lemon tone after you cut through the antiseptic character, and some herbal, almost licorice, undertones in the glass, too. This is an interesting vodka for drinking straight, though ultimately I have a few other brands I prefer a little better; Ciroc’s oddly bitter finish makes it a little tricky.

this is a decent vodka if used to make a mixed drink. Im not up on all the lingo, but it has some funky after tastes. No burn. which i like not having.

Boomerang and Swan’s Neck are both also distilled from grapes. Both are reviewed on this site.

I love Ciroc. I see why Puff was running around on stage after the BET awards, its very smooth and taste great with lemons or straight. Drink responsibly this is a GREAT party vodka.

Hi i have tried Ciroc and I give it high marks. It’s a bit different then what I would perfer.
I think the best new vodka is called “45th parellel”. I tried the 45th and hands down a better vodka. Try it I’m not the only one who thinks this way.

yeah very appropriate…that should make you understand why Landy’s taste is so smooth…very similar to the Godfather of Hip-Hop Snoop D-O-Double G

I work in a liquor store and this vodka came out of nowhere when Sean Combs started promoting it-people were asking for it and we got it and I tried it and whoa! While I am not a vodka person this is the one vodka I will drink-I enjoy it chilled straight up or in chilled shooters with lemonade.

Yea this vodka was dead in the water until Puffy got behind it
now it is a mover and shaker! Boomerang is a good vodka half the price.

I consider myself a vodka connoisseur and Ciroc takes the cake. It goes down smooth, but is still distinctly recognizable as premium vodka. To rank my top 3:

    1. Ciroc
    2. Ketel One
    3. Smirnoff (commonly discounted due to its affordable pricing, but by far the best bang-for-your-buck vodka on the market)

Ciroc is an excellent Vodka, although QUITE unique.

Is certainly is pronounced with Grape flavors, with anise and licorice undertones.

This Vodka, none-the-less un-traditional, is a great product. Very smooth with little burning; just enough to remind you it’s a Vodka.

While in the top of my list for uniqueness alone, it stands out as a great Vodka despite its uniqueness. There are certainly other traditional Vodkas out there that beat Ciroc, that by no-means detracts from the excellence of this product.

To Charles: I simply do not understand how you could characterize Smirnoff as a good Vodka; it simply sucks.

    My top-two Vodka’s are:

    1) Ed Phillips & Sons Prairie (Organic)
    2) Iceland Reyka

And as a rule, remember, Grey Goose is good… but not for the price.

Good Lord Ciroc sucks, you guys are easily impressed. For half the price I can find you dozen of vodkas that will blow Ciroc away. It is very overpriced and over hyped. It is not vodka to sip on or take a shot of, absolutely terrible. B+ is being too generous and I am completely serious.

Ciroc is so disgusting, has to be the WORST “top shelf” vodka there is.

People are so stupid. I get so sick of stupid people. For example, people who say things like “Ciroc is terrible!” as if it were an objective statement. Do these people understand “objective” vs. “subjective”? Of course not.

I happen to love Ciroc. I wish I didn’t. It’s one of the most expensive vodkas out there. I really do enjoy the taste; and I drink it neat. That means straight out of the bottle, at room temperature. I do not grade on a curve.

I like Tito’s as well, but Tito’s strength is how clean it is. It’s absolutely inoffensive.

And for some reason, I could swear I get a better buzz from Ciroc. I have no idea why that is, but it’s absolutely true.
