I got a little misty eyed when I heard about Blue Ice Vodka: It’s an old-fashioned spirit distilled from potatoes. It’s also made right here in the U. S. of A., in, where else, Idaho.
Spuds give Blue Ice a strong, traditional flavor. If I didn’t know better I’d think I was drinking Russian vodka. For better or worse, Blue Ice punches you with that old-school, medicinal taste of rubbing alcohol. One shot and you’ll feel like you’re about to be given a shot in the arm. Four distillation steps and five filtrations make it clean, but still a powerful spirit. I had trouble drinking this one straight, but it’s fine as a mixer.
Oh, and the bottle (a sculpted work from Flowdesign) is supposed to look like it has icicles in it, but the effect doesn’t work all that well unless you’re looking at it at just the right angle.
