Allen - Find a good bar that's well stocked with Scotch and Bourbon and start exploring. Makes much more sense to drink that way than buying full bottles!

I'm brand new to Whiskey drinking. Lost all my vices when I was diagnosed with diabetes and I don't smoke. So, I've taken up the W.
Is there any beginners guide to Whiskey (i.e. how to drink, shop, collect, etc)?
So far we've just played around with Jameson, Johnny Drum, JW Blue and Woodford Reserve. Since I don't hit bars very often it's not the easiest thing in the world to test out different Whiskeys. You're site has been a treat to find.
Any thoughts?
