[...] Unless you have been living under a rock for the past couple years, you will have surly noticed the trend of cucumber flavor creeping onto cocktail menus across the states. Cucumbers are a pain in the butt to juice, but the flavor is pleasant, refreshing, and (in my opinion) worth the trouble. At the moment, I’m only aware of 1 cucumber flavored vodka on the market, produced by Square One (http://www.drinkhacker.com/2008/10/25/review-square-one-cucumber-vodka/) [...]

I hate flavored vodkas, but I thought the plain Square One wasn't at all bad. Sadly, it seems to have disappeared since I bought a couple of bottles last Christmas. This seems to be the way with vodkas these days -- you have to release some kind of flavored version in a novel package to get noticed. But although I thought the plain Square One was reasonably smooth, I have a hard time paying $4 for a fancy half-gallon of milk at the froofy grocery store down the street, so the "organic" label isn't really selling me. After all, vodka -- like anything that can be called a "beverage" -- is mostly water.
