we did the sat AM taste pavilion with the cheese (pt. reyes blue owner jill the true draw), coffee (intelligensia's got it goin' ON), charcuterie (all for framani), spirits (my first pismo punch and sazerac with absinthe - yay! [i know we're a bit behind on the pismo...we're parents, what can we say?]) and beer pavilion (we cashed in all our remaining slow dough [weak concept all around] and lucked out with all eight being great) taking all honors. if they do it again in SF, slow definitely needs more room and more people but the rumor is chicago or NYC will get the next venue. probably won't travel for it, even if they do fix that crazy wine roulette or up the ante on the portions. wendell berry stole the show that night at the conversation with carlo patrini, alice waters (is she usually so flighty?), michael pollan and others. i bet wendell would go for the sazerac...probably without the absinthe though...
